Tuesday 17 February Better late than never, Cupid to strike the Hinterland's Heart this Friday
Cupid will pay a belated visit to Nambour -- the heart of the Hinterland -- on Friday when the Moonlight Market comes to town.
Although the event was planned for last week, black Friday proved a bad omen for organisers.
"Regrettably, we had to postpone the market because of severe weather," coordinator Helen Langlois said. "The up-side is that it will now be held this Friday."
"As originally promoted, there will still be free entertainment, interesting foods and merchandise and a Romantic Prize Giveaway -- all thanks to Nambour Futures and Sunshine Coast Regional Council."
Locals and lovers alike can win romantic prizes, indulge in sweet treats, be serenaded by acoustics and purchase love gifts at the Valentine's-themed event.
Entertainment will kick off around 5pm with roaming performers and musicians. Cupid will be shooting unsuspecting passers-by; while Miss Donna the Clown will delight children of all ages with her friendly charm and quirky balloon creations.
Later in the evening, folk and Spanish-inspired duo The Express will perform. After being invited to events such as the Woodford Folk Festival, the well-known Maleny boys will serenade market visitors with their smooth acoustics.
The Romantic Prize Giveaway will also be a feature of the evening. A stunning bunch of roses, an overnight romantic retreat, dinner for two, a 'timeless' wall clock and a huge basket of love sweets will all be given away courtesy of Nambour Florist, Turmeric Gardens, the Nambour RSL, Gifts of Love and The Candy Basket.
Foodstalls will offer fudges, jams, cakes and lollies; as well as Indonesian, Indian, Japanese, Mexican and Thai cuisines.
Stallholders will be selling clothing and jewellery, lamps, lanterns and vases, sandals and bags, gifts and homewares.
Around town, a number of businesses will extend their trading hours; while the Nambour Library will be spreading the love by remaining open until 8:30pm.
The event will run from 5pm to 9pm and will be held in the forecourt of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council Chambers, on the corner of Currie and Bury Streets.
Admission, entry into the lucky prize draw, and entertainment are all free.
The Information Tent will be open for the duration of the market, accepting entries into the lucky prize draw until 8:30pm when the final draw will take place.
Nambour's Moonlight Market is a community event and is proudly hosted by Nambour Futures in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
