What's Happening at Gympie's own magic Mining Museum this week?
Cars, cars and more lovely cars, plus fabulous 'Irish Dancing' at the magic Museum Markets at the 'Duck Ponds' on the Highway this coming Sunday.
It's a real leisurely village market atmosphere here where everyone is particularly friendly and helpful. There is plenty of space, no rush or bustle, heaps of seating, live free local entertainment, the parking is real easy, and you can even take your pet.
It is the place to get your beautiful local farm fresh fruit and vegies, all at very reasonable prices, and you can actually talk to the lovely folk who grow them.
As you are looking to get your fresh fruit and vegies, the Museum's own Organic Shop, which is the only organic certified retailer in the region, is a must.
One can then really relax on the comfy seats under the big trees next to the stage area watching the entertainment, showcasing our local artists, this Sunday being Barry Beaumont's "On Request" plus, yes plus, displays of 'riverdance' style 'Irish Dancing'.
For those who love 'all things old' there is always a small dynamic display of the Museum's lovingly and painstakingly restored machinery running around the markets, and you can even catch a ride on the fabulous and nostalgic old Gympie Town Bus. Hail and ride had a different meaning in those days.
This Sunday we also feature not one but THREE car clubs coming to enjoy Gympie's famous hospitality, the Sunshine Coast MG Club, the Fraser Coast Vintage Car Club and our own Gympie Antique Car Club, really something for everyone, so whether your into old cars or not, this dynamic display is surely not to be missed, and its all FREE.
With an intriguing look in through the billowing mauve vales of the mystical 'Madams Marquee', which is a real 'happening' in itself, the marvellous Museum Markets really have a little bit of everything for everybody.
After the markets, a leisurely luncheon on the kiosk's intimate veranda or under the beautiful spreading trees of the park enjoying the lively antics of the waterfowl and the grace of the majestic black swans. Really lovely, really relaxing, and really rounds off a great Sunday experience.
