The Palmwoods Singers Theatrical Society, flushed with the sell-out success of last year’s concert, is set to tread the boards again.
‘’Walking in Sunshine” is being performed at the Palmwoods Memorial Hall on Saturday, May 13th at 2 and 7 pm. Admission $10, refreshments will be available for both shows. Ring Pat Atkinson on 0404 980 222 to reserve seats, or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Musical director Marji Murray said that what started as a relatively straightforward programme of 50s’and 60s’ songs quickly took on a life of its own and turned into a spoof musical comedy celebrating the 50th anniversary of the naming of the Sunshine Coast.
She said she and Singers’ member Pat Atkinson share a passion for live musical theatre, and the show has elements of pantomime, of farce, of drama, and above all of good old-fashioned fun, set against the Sunshine Coast of the 60s and the music iconic to that time.
“It was an era with wonderful, memorable songs and a culture of its own – we’ve tried to reflect that in a spirit of fun,” Pat said. “It makes us laugh. We’re hoping that as it’s being performed on May 13th, some people will come for a Mother’s Day treat.”
The performance is sponsored by the Sunshine Coast Council 50th year anniversary fund.
