Wallace Park is turning 21 next month and Noosa is invited to join the party!
The natural amphitheatre will be buzzing with excitement for all ages, including stalls, come-and-try sessions for bridge, group fitness and junior gymnastics, a book sale and a baby farm animal petting zoo sponsored by Friends of Noosa Library.
"All of the community organisations and Council facilities that call Wallace Park home are set to join in the celebrations, providing a great opportunity for residents to taste what Wallace Park has to offer," Kerri Contini, Manager Libraries and Galleries, said.
Wallace Park – a 90,000sqm land parcel off Eumundi-Noosa Road – is rich in history. Originally owned by early settler Walter Hay, it was sold to Arthur Wallace in 1930 after fire destroyed the Hays' home.
Following Wallace's death in 1974 Wallace House was sold off and rented out, at one point becoming a casino, before Noosa Council acquired the land in 1992.
Today, the old house is home to Noosa Arts and Crafts Association Inc, whose members knit, sew, paint and craft countless artistic creations each year.
Wallace House sits proud in the John Mainwaring-master-planned Wallace Park precinct, which is now home to Noosa Bridge Club Inc, Tewantin-Noosa Meals on Wheels, Noosa Parks Association's Environment Centre, Noosa Community Care, Endeavour Foundation, Noosaville Library and Noosa Leisure Centre.
The community birthday celebrations will get underway from 9am, until 1pm, Saturday, 6 December.
"There will be plenty of free entertainment, storytelling and fun for all ages," Ms Contini said.
"We're thrilled that all the Wallace Park associations and Council facilities have come together to give the community a wonderful celebration of free entertainment and come-and-try activities," Ms Contini said.
"Everyone is invited to come and celebrate Wallace Park's 21st birthday."
