One Just World is coming to the Sunshine Coast! We are launching our regional series in the Sunshine Coast with What Do Our Pacific Neighbours Need From Us? on Tuesday 21 August 2012 at 6.30 – 8.00pm (entry from 6.00pm).
This is a FREE forum open to everyone. We would be delighted to invite the members of the Sunshine Coast community to our forum, as well as any friends and family who would be interested in joining us for a dynamic discussion. One Just World is a national series of free Q & A style speakers’ forums aimed at involving the community in conversation and debate on key issues facing Australia, the Asia Pacific and beyond.
The Pacific Islands contain some of our nearest neighbours, and yet most Australians know little about life in the Pacific. Life for the 13 million Pacific Islanders varies from country to country, but for many it is a daily struggle to get access to decent food, shelter, healthcare and education. And for women and girls living in the Pacific, who face constant battles for their own safety and security, life is an endless grind.
So how do we begin to understand the complexities of life in the Pacific? And what can we as Australians do to help address the poverty problems that afflict so much of the region? Featuring: Dame Carol Kidu DBE MP Isabel Calvert Allison Simons John Stokes (moderator) PLEASE RSVP at: www.onejustworld.com.au Please see the flyer attached for more information We hope to see you there!
