"White Wash - Country, Place and Kin" is a selection of works developed by the renowned visual and performance artist, Mayrah Yarraga Dreise, in response to personal research, family and community histories. Her traditional country (Gamilaroi/Yeeralaroi areas), the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane City have all influenced the development of artworks that transcend time and create direct links between the past, present and future histories. White Wash explores stories and cultural practices that are often neglected in our post-modern materialistic world. The exhibition presents a cross-studio area approach to art making, with works hanging together as a testament to Indigenous art representation within the modern & contemporary art contexts. The works in this exhibition emanate a passion for education, recognition for past injustices and an ongoing respect for Indigenous people. "White Wash - Country. Place and Kin" will create challenging and diverse viewer responses. But be assured that this exhibition will offer something for all to contemplate.

Robert is a prolific artist usually working in oils on canvas, however he has been involved in other artistic endeavours and in particular, creating works for streetscapes.  He is an Indigenous man proud of his culture.  He has been painting for numerous years and has works exhibited in several exhibitions.  This collection of works depicts his local Indigenous community as well as family and friends.  Roberts's portraits show Indigenous people in everyday situations linking to their Indigenous culture.  A culture, which is engrained in the everyday life of his subject, still being practiced and not disappearing, just because the traditional living conditions have changed.  Robert is using several mediums including oil on canvas, pastels and charcoal to compile a strong and powerful statement about Indigenous people and their place.
