Due to torrential rain and flooding during the first week of the Sunshine Coast Wildflower Festival, the Wildflower Walk through the Kawana Forest Trail had to be cancelled. Rather than disappoint the many people who booked to attend the walk, CCCG has decided to conduct this walk on Sunday 7th October at 2pm.
The meeting place will be in Kawana Forest Park beside Lillypilly Court, Meridan Plains leading into the rainforest walk area. Everyone is welcome to join us on this lovely walk through littoral rainforest and to appreciate the natural beauty of the environment so close to our homes. For bookings, please ring Caloundra City Council on 5420 8200.
WEEDBUSTER WEEK - Sunday 14th October
Weedbuster Week is used to help heighten the awareness of the damaging effects of weeds. CCCG's site for Weedbuster Week this year is an area along the southern side of Currimundi Lake from the Ahern Bridge on the Nicklin Way west to Snowdrop Avenue. It is hoped by having this large area we will attract weedbuster volunteers from a number of different neighbourhoods such as Currimundi Lake Villas, Alstonville, Creekside and the rest of Currimundi West. Volunteers from all areas are welcome. CCCG members and Council Officers will be available to give a briefing on how to identify which weeds are the most invasive and need to be removed.
Please register at 9am, along Currimundi Creek, between Creekside Boulevard and Sweetgum Court, Currimundi West. Don't forget your water bottle, hat, sunscreen and gloves. A complementary BBQ and Lucky Dip prizes will follow for volunteers at 11am at the registration site. Children (under parents' supervision) are most welcome as it is an opportunity for them to learn and appreciate the environment.
NOTE: The completion of the Currimundi Creek National Tree Day planting will take place at the Weedbuster event. Volunteers please register accordingly.
