Children's Book Week 18th - 24th August
This year's theme is READiscover. We are celebrating Bookweek with storytime on Tuesday 21st August starting at 10am and on Thursday 23rd August stories for toddlers at 10am. We will also be celebrating the week with a special guest children's author Kerry Argent. Kerry's book the One Woolly Wombat, is one of the Little Big Book Clubs book selections for August and is celebrating 25 years of publication. Come along to this very special storytelling event for children under 8 years. N.B The date is yet to be confirmed for either Fri 24 Aug or Mon 27 Aug.
The winners for the five categories for the Children's Book Council of Australia's Book of the Year short list will be announced during Bookweek. More details on the library website or at http://www.cbc.org.au/short07.htm
Battle Games @ Noosa for kids over 10 yrs. Every Saturday in the Noosa Library meeting room from 11am to 2.00pm. Come along and you will find the armies of Warhammer - Skaven, Elves, Space Marines or Lizardmen strategically battle each other.

Leigh Redhead - Thursday 9 August 6pm

Books Alive is on again and Noosa Library, in partnership with Written Dimensions bookshop, is celebrating with an author event featuring one of the 50 writers in the 2007 Books Alive Great Read Guide.  Come and hear Leigh Redhead speak at a special Books Alive event.
Leigh has written three very successful novels where the main character is a former stripper who has become a private investigator.  Leigh has had a very interesting life and is sure to be extremely entertaining. Bookings Essential.

To celebrate Hearing Awareness Week, Noosa Library will host the launch of Lisa Mill's book 'Look at me: Deaf Awareness'.  This delightful Deaf Awareness book aims for readers to gain a positive insight into the world of deaf people.  Guests attending this launch will also be treated to an amazing body art theatre performance, which encourages deaf awareness by looking at deafness in a positive light.

Take 2 forum: Grandparents as Parents
Sunday 19 August 10am - 12pm (Free Event)
Morning Tea included
This community forum will focus on grandparents raising their grandchildren. The morning includes presentations and displays on issues relevant to grandparents.  This is a great opportunity to obtain information as well as socialise with other grandparents in the same situation.  A creative storytelling and art session will be held for the grandchildren while the forum is on.
