Six TAFE Queensland East Coast students are running the Sunshine Coast’s very first YOLO Travel Expo next week appealing to the 18 to 35 year old ‘YOLO’ market.
“I’m really hoping visitors will be inspired to travel and get excited about seeking new adventures because there’s so much to do and explore here on the Coast and abroad,” event organiser and TAFE Tourism and Events student Sara Karlstrom said.
“By attending the YOLO Travel Expo you can talk with some amazing experts who have expertise on locations all over the globe - plus they’re all under one roof, so you don’t have to try and figure out where to get the information from.
“So if you’re interested in Asia for example, there will be someone who knows all about different tours and activities there.”
The students are completing Dual Diploma of Travel and Tourism and Event Management and have been organising the event over several months as their major project assessment.
As part of the project, the students came up with the travel expo concept, decided on the name of the event, designed the logo and all supporting promotional materials, sourced and secured sponsorships and exhibitors to participate and all suppliers involved.
“We’re expecting hundreds of people to visit the expo and our exhibitors are very excited to be part of this first time event,” TAFE Queensland East Coast tourism teacher Gordana Russell said.
“Our students have done an amazing job showcasing their skills organising such a large scale and complex event,” she said.
