The Labor Government’s Budget will damage Queensland with record debt and hurt households with new taxes, Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie said today.

“This is a Budget of taxes, debt and unemployment,” Mr Bleijie said.

“Five new taxes, an $83 billion debt bomb and the worst unemployment rate in Australia is Labor’s plan for Queensland.

“The Sunshine Coast has been duded by the Palaszczuk Labor Government again.  Increased expenditure on health and education in a growing region like the Sunshine Coast is expected and should not be crowed about as record investment.

“The Palaszczuk Labor Government has failed to tackle traffic congestion in Kawana by not putting any money towards the $440 million Mooloolah River Interchange (Hospital Link Road).

“Approximately $5 million has been allocated to roundabout upgrades on Kawana Way which have already been constructed and opened for a year.

This is certainly a Labor Budget, higher taxes, record debt, increased car registration and Sunshine Coast residents will be hardest hit with an $80 water charge increase.”
