Racing Minister Stirling Hinchliffe has hailed Winx as one of the all-time legends of the Australian turf following the mare’s record-breaking 26th-straight win today.

“Winx loves breaking records, and she has an incredible will to win,” he said.

“The sheer class and determination she showed in her latest win - in a race named after her - is a testament to her greatness.

“Winx is no stranger to Queensland – she went through the sales ring at the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast and began her incredible winning run on the Sunshine Coast.

“She also scored her first Group One win at the Queensland Winter Carnival, where future stars are born, year in and year out.

“Some of her owners including Peter Tighe are proud Queenslanders, adding to the tremendous affinity we all feel for her in the Sunshine State.

“I want to congratulate the winning connections and trainer Chris Waller, who has re-written the record books with this great champion.

“Queenslanders would love to see Winx back up here again , where it all began – it would be a fitting finale to her outstanding career.”
