$50,000 makes a splash for Noosa Dolphins Rugby Union Club

A re-elected Liberal and Nationals Government will provide $50,000 to deliver a new maintenance shed for Noosa Dolphins Rugby Union Club.

Member for Wide Bay Llew O'Brien said supporting local sports clubs like Noosa Dolphins was a key priority for the Liberal and Nationals because of the significant benefits they bring to the community.

"The Noosa Rugby Union Club is one of the strongest Rugby Union Clubs on the Sunshine Coast, with more than 450 players of all ages, and this funding will help ensure the Club can continue to serve these players and many more for years to come," Mr O'Brien said.

"Up to 10,000 people attend major national and international matches at the club grounds so it provides economic benefit in the Noosa tourism market, as well as the social and health benefits offered by helping people get active and enjoy the sport."

Noosa Dolphins Rugby Union Club Senior President and spokesperson Donald McKill said at present, the club's lack of storage space meant equipment was kept in the players' changing rooms.

"This new shed means our teams will have a comfortable space to prepare for matches, the current gymnasium will be able to be doubled in size and we will be able to attract new players and grow the sport in the Noosa region," Donald said.

"We are a volunteer-run organisation, and we cannot afford to build this with the fees we ask from our players, so this funding makes a huge difference to our players and the community."

Mr O'Brien said the funding for the new maintenance shed was only possible because of the Morrison Government's plan for a stronger economy that allows the Government to invest in these projects

"Only the Liberals and Nationals have a proven track record when it comes to managing the Budget," Mr O'Brien said.

"We know how important investments like these are in our regions because strong regions mean a strong Australia."

Mr O'Brien said this year's Federal Budget is ensuring that regional Australia continues to grow, create jobs and invest in our local communities.

"The surplus guarantees funding for the essential services that you and your family need and rely on," he said.

"This includes record funding for schools, hospitals, medicines and roads."

The shed has been fully budgeted for.
