Squeeze 2011 is an art educator exhibition on at Sunshine Coast Council’s Caloundra Regional Gallery from 14 September.

Squeeze 2011 encourages art educators to step out of their classrooms and into their studios to expand their arts practice.

The exhibition includes a range of works from 34 local art educators from primary, secondary and tertiary institutions and challenges them to explore fresh ideas in their work.

Squeeze 2011 is a biennial event that celebrates art education and art educators on the Sunshine Coast, highlighting their work completed in the last two years.

Everyone is invited to the exhibition’s official opening on Friday 16 September at 6pm. The opening guest speaker is Gallery Curator, Dawn Oelrich, from the University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery.

Squeeze 2011 exhibition dates are Wednesday 14 September to Sunday 23 October.  

Other activities on the Caloundra Regional Gallery program are:
A perfect blend, coffee and art: artist and author, Lyne Marshall will speak about her journey as an artist and squeezing it into her life on Thursday 15 September at 10.30am.
Spring artscool: children’s school holiday art workshops, Friday 23 and Wednesday 28 September at Caloundra Regional Gallery from 11am to 12pm for 5 to 8 year olds and 12.30pm to 2pm for 9 to 12 year olds, $15 per session, bookings essential. Workshops will also be held at the Maleny and Beerwah libraries.
Lino printing: workshop with Victoria Atkins on Saturday 24 September from 10am to 3pm at the Maleny Arts and Crafts Centre, $65 and $15 material fee, bookings essential.
Surrealism for kids on tour: on Saturday 24 September from 10.30am to 2.30pm, at the Caloundra Regional Gallery, free event.
Kids club: free children’s art activities, first Saturday of each month from 10am to 12pm.
Three colour etching, printmaking: workshop with Judith Rosenberg on Sunday 16 October from 12pm to 4pm and Monday 17 October from 12pm to 4pm, $65 per workshop bookings essential.
