A triumphant one-man tour de force, Mikelangelo, takes on three of the great poets of popular music – Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen - at council’s Lake Kawana Community Centre on Friday, April 20 at 7.30pm.

Cave, Waits and Cohen stole his heart and soul as a young man, and Mikelangelo delivers a stirring homage to these men who set him on his musical path in a show filled with beauty, vitality and humour.

With masterful control, Mikelangelo brings together a brilliant collection of songs, stripping them back to reveal immense power and vulnerability, weaving songs together with his own personal stories and reflections in this transporting and entertaining show.

Mikelangelo’s voice is smooth and rich as velvet, making each song his own.

His guitar playing summons great breadth and emotion and his accordion and piano playing add a delightful and melodic change of mood.

The show traverses genres and decades, from the serious to the joyous to the sublime, with stunning interpretations of Cave’s Into My Arms, Cohen’s Hallelujah and Wait’s foot stomping Goin’ Out West and more.

Later in the show, Mikelangelo treats us to some of his original songs, demonstrating that he can more than hold his own as a songwriter amongst such esteemed company.

The cabaret show Cave-Waits-Cohen has toured to great response from audiences and critics from Sydney to Melbourne to Adelaide to Darwin, through regional Victoria, Queensland and NSW and to the 2017 Edinburgh Festival.

Mikelangelo is internationally acclaimed as the front man of his group the Black Sea Gentlemen and has played to packed houses from the Sydney Opera House to the backstreets of Budapest to London’s West End, winning awards and building a devout following with his original songs and his impressive showmanship.

Enjoy cabaret style seating at just $39 for adults, $35 for concessions, $35 for groups of six or more and $30 for people under the age of 26. Add a delicious cheese platter for two for just $15.
