And we're off!

On the 18th of May, we go to the polls to decide the next Government of Australia.  While the issue of marriage equality dominated previous federal elections, we know there is still more to be done to make equality a reality for all LGBTIQ+ people.

That's why we're partnering with the National LGBTI Health Alliance and Intersex Human Rights Australia to hold a virtual LGBTI election forumwith representatives from each of the major parties – and we'd love for you to join us:

Tuesday 23 April - 6pm to 7:15pm (AEST)

On the night we'll be in conversation with Kerryn Phelps (Independent, Member for Wentworth) Senator Louise Pratt (Labor Shadow Minister for Equality), Senator Janet Rice (Greens LGBTI spokesperson) and Trent Zimmerman (Liberal, Member for North Sydney) to talk about the issues that matter for LGBTIQ+ people this election.

The virtual forum is designed to provide you with the opportunity to ask a panel of leading politicians questions about key issues affecting LGBTIQ people in Australia. Whether it's protecting students and teachers from discrimination, improving the health  of trans and gender diverse people, standing up for LGBTIQ rights in the region or simply ensuring that LGBTIQ people have a seat at the table of Government - email us your question - and we'll ensure it get asked on the night.

We want to make sure that every LGBTIQ+ Australian, no matter where they live, has the opportunity to hear directly from the people vying for our votes this election. And we want to make sure that our politicians know that LGBTIQ+ people and our allies are a voice, and a force, to be reckoned with.

So join us online or over the phone next Tuesday and let's make it clear that this election, we want our politicians to do everything they can to ensure that no one is treated less-than for simply being who they are.

I look forward to seeing you then!
