Time is running out to give yourself a chance to win up to $1000 off your next rates bill by signing up to receive your future rates notices by email.
Corporate Strategy and Finance Portfolio Councillor Tim Dwyer said ratepayers who registered through MyCouncil by visiting council’s website at www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au to receive future rates notices electronically before Wednesday, August 21, would be in the running to win.
“This $1000 prize incentive is all about encouraging our ratepayers to make the shift to online delivery methods, which provide greater convenience for them and also helps council adopt a more environmentally friendly method of using less paper when sending out rates notices,” Cr Dwyer said.
“Moving to an online system also allows ratepayers to receive their rates notices instantly, wherever they are and arrange payment in a more timely and efficient manner so they don’t miss the early bird rates discount period.
“Making this change and putting yourself in the running to win up to $1000 off your next rates bill is as simple as creating a MyCouncil account or logging into your existing MyCouncil account and changing your preferred rates delivery method to email, before August 21.
“If you’re already receiving your rates notices by email, you’re automatically in the running to win up to $1000 off your next rates bill.”
MyCouncil is an online dashboard where residents can interact with council, view their property, rates, business and animal details and make requests and payments. You’ll find a step-by-step guide to setting up your MyCouncil account and changing your preferred rates notice delivery method on council’s website.
Rates payments are now due and if you pay by Friday, August 23 you’ll receive council’s early bird discount.
There is a range of convenient options available for paying your rates, including BPAY, by phone on 131 816, in person at Australia Post, at one of council’s customer contact centres or by mail.
Council also has a direct debit option, which can be set up to pay rates in full by the due date, to make life easier for busy ratepayers.
To assist with online or over-the-phone payments, property owners will need their payment reference number, found on their rates notice.
Ratepayers who cannot make payment by the due date are encouraged to enter into an arrangement to pay their current rates by instalments by logging into MyCouncil or by calling council’s customer contact centre.
