The behaviour of male ministers, MPs, and staffers in Parliament makes me sick. But honestly, I'm not surprised.
There's nothing I've heard that I haven't experienced or supported a loved one through. Most women face the threat of attack on our way home at night, harassment on the street, and are routinely undermined and underpaid at work. On top of this, some women experience the compounding harms of domestic violence, transphobic attacks, and racist sexism too.
But right now, even the Morrison Government is being forced to act. Why?
Because Brittany Higgins won't let up in her fight against sexual violence in Parliament. Senator Lidia Thorpe is speaking up about the racist sexual harassment she faces every day. Trans and Filipino communities are demanding justice for the violent killing of Mhelody Bruno. And a petition started by Chanel Contos is rallying thousands of young women behind the call for better consent education in schools.
Politicians and decision-makers on every level are now feeling the pressure to take action.
