Property Crime Squad detectives have arrested a man following a three-year investigation into the alleged theft of drugs during multiple break-ins at chemists on the Sunshine Coast.
It is alleged the pharmacies situated across Noosa and Coolum had large quantities of opiate based products stolen by the same man, a 29-year-old from Peregian Springs.
Police were able to link the offences through a number of suspicious transactions made at local chemists.
A search warrant was executed yesterday on a Perigian Springs residence where officers seized a number of items of interest, including pharmaceutical drugs.
It will be alleged the dual US-Australian citizen had stolen the opiates for personal use.
The 29-year-old man was charged with 13 offences including 11 counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence and one count each of possessing dangerous drugs and possession of utensils.
He was released on strict bail conditions, including reporting and curfew conditions and an inability to leave Australia without permission of police and is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 20.
Police are continuing investigations in relation to further chemist break and enters across the Sunshine Coast.
