Banana Bender pub launched with quirky new features

Aussie World on the Sunshine Coast today officially launched the Banana Bender Pub featuring a uniquely Australian theme which helps it lay claim to being one of Australia’s quirkiest pubs.

Rugby League Immortal and Queensland icon Wally Lewis will officially launch the Banana Bender Pub at 11am today.

Aussie World spokesman Tim James says the Banana Bender Pub is an extension of Aussie World being a place of fun and a venue where people don’t take themselves too seriously.

“We’re quirky and different, yet uniquely Australian so we encourage everyone to check it out.

“Who better than the King of Queensland himself, Wally Lewis, to officially open the Banana Bender Pub.”

With more than 40 thousand hours committed to the redevelopment from local businesses and tradies, it’s a great time to celebrate the re-opening of an iconic Sunshine Coast business that has already given so much back to the local community.

“Inside the pub looks spectacular following the redevelopment,” Tim said.

“We have created a unique place of fun and entertainment for all ages. Where else could you see a beach and surfing Australian themed zone that salutes the surf culture of Australia, an Aussie music inspired lounge, Australia’s native animals presented in ways you’ve never seen them before, all while enjoying a relaxing drink and a great meal off our new menu?”

With more than 100,000 vehicles passing the Banana Bender Pub every day, the Banana Bender Pub is set to be a hit with locals and the thousands of tourists who sample the pub’s unique hospitality each year.

Visit Sunshine Coast CEO Simon Latchford congratulated Aussie World on the redevelopment of the iconic pub and welcomed the new addition to the Sunshine Coast.

“New tourism offerings such as the Banana Bender Pub are crucial for staying ahead of the game and keeping up with tourist demand on the Sunshine Coast,” Mr Latchford said.

“New attractions, experiences, restaurants and events draw a different market of visitors to the region and encourage return visitation, which is crucial for continuing to grow the region’s tourism industry.

“It’s incredibly exciting to see Aussie World continually build on its brand with new rides, attractions and now the redevelopment of the pub, making the precinct a destination of choice for families and couples alike.”

After the public launch today, the Grand Opening Celebrations continue all weekend with free park entry* and ride pass deals sold separately, hourly prize draws, free face painting and balloon creations for the kids, live music and special guest Alfie Langer on Sunday between 11am and 3pm signing autographs.

The Banana Bender Pub is also giving guests the chance to win incredible prizes worth nearly $10,000, which includes everything from giant TV’s to Queensland maroons jumpers signed by Wally Lewis, barbeques, eskies and more. The massive prize giveaway kicks off on Saturday 23 November from 10am with entries available simply by purchasing a beer, wine or soft drink at the pub.

The Banana Bender Pub features a new beer garden and menu, delivering greater choice and comfort for patrons, who will also love the wrap around balconies around the pub.

The alfresco front verandah offers a great view for a relaxing drink or meal, with a new lift offering easy access to the pub top level and restaurant.

State Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie MP, who has a family connection to the precinct, will also attend today’s launch.
