Labor must finally end the confusion over when Queensland will allow interstate tourism after it was revealed the border closure is destroying over 1000 Queensland jobs a week.
Queensland is losing 173 jobs a day because of closed borders – more than any other state in Australia.
The economic modelling conducted on behalf of the Australian Tourism Industry Council came after Labor MPs defeated an LNP motion condemning the Palaszczuk Government’s border shambles in State Parliament last night.
LNP Leader Deb Frecklington said Labor failed to grasp the economic carnage its chaotic border announcements were causing for Queenslanders.
“This modelling shows that Labor’s border shambles is closing businesses and costing jobs on a huge scale,” Ms Frecklington said.
“The curve has been flattened. It’s time for Labor to stop flattening the economy.
“It is shocking that the Palaszczuk Labor Government failed to carry out its own economic modelling on the cost of the border closure.
“This is what happens when you have a Premier who continues to change the goal-posts and a Treasurer who refuses to present a full Budget.
“Labor have no plan, no Budget and no commitment to re-opening our border.
“Labor are flying blind through this economic crisis and Queenslanders are losing their jobs because of it.”
