Following the success of last year’s (2017) performance of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’, Little Seed Theatre Company (LSTC) is proud to present Broadway’s Blockbuster Cult Musical – WICKED for 4 performances ONLY at The J theatre Noosa on Noosa Show Weekend, September 7-8, 2018 - in just over two weeks!

WICKED, the most successful theatre production of its time anywhere in the world opened on Broadway in 2003 and unfolds the untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two young women who first meet as sorcery students at Shiz University: the blonde and very popular Glinda and a misunderstood green girl named Elphaba.

Following an encounter with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths.

Glinda’s unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power while Elphaba’s determination to remain true to herself, and to those around her, will have unexpected and shocking consequences for the future.

Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

WICKED the musical is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire with Music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Winnie Holzman. Orchestrations are by William David Brohn with Music Arrangements by Alex Lacamoire & Stephen Oremus.

What should audiences expect from this production?

‘Audiences should expect a theatrical spectacle with a flying Elphaba, Glinda’s floating bubble, acrobatic monkeys, dazzling choreography, beautiful costumes, superb performances and hit songs including, Popular, No One Mourns the Wicked and of course Defying Gravity. Not one audience member will leave anything less than blown away, happy and inspired’ said Artistic Director of the Little Seed Theatre Company, Johanna Wallace.

The exceptional cast of LSTC alumni assembles some of the Sunshine Coast’s top rising talent, with the eldest cast member just having turned 19. There are 50 performers in the main cast, with a further 16 dancers and back-up singers. This talented ensemble will perform the full version of the musical, supported by an orchestra of professional musicians, directed by a seasoned creative team led by Music Director, Connie Groves.

‘WICKED is the wish-upon-a star dream of Connie Groves, our Musical Director. She asked if we could apply for the rights and we actually thought we wouldn’t succeed as rights are normally only awarded to musical societies. The incredible and unforgettable score, lyrics and social messaging made it our first choice to present. Wicked is the perfect showcase and study experience for our talented cast and it has been exceptionally rewarding to watch the cast, orchestra, crew and entire team attach and grow to this cult musical that focuses on important social themes such as the power of friendship to transform our lives for the better, bullying, sexuality and ultimate hope and faith’ Johanna added

Little Seed Theatre Company has developed an excellent reputation for performing arts training and for producing productions and stars right here on our Sunshine Coast doorstep, As Artistic Director of LSTC, Johanna, what is your super objective?

‘That’s an easy one to answer for me and thanks for asking….. I wish to continue providing opportunity to our youth and to build a thriving community of creatives who make great theatre, excel in the art of storytelling, performance and self- expression!

We have some awe- inspiring success stories amongst our alumni and there is nothing that gives me more pleasure than being part of that!’ said Johanna
