Buderim local, Timothy Sullivan, has recently appointed to the Australian Defence Force Academy as a General Service Officer in the Australian Regular Army. The Chancellor State College graduate decided to pursue a military career for the diversity and challenges he would find.
“I chose to join ADFA because I wanted to earn a university degree and also be a part of the Australian Defence Force (ADF), engaging in military training and being part of the unique Defence culture and lifestyle,” Timothy said.
The combination of military training, education and skills Timothy will gain from his time at ADFA will prepare him to face any challenge and perform on the world stage as a leader in ADF.
“A career in the Defence Force appeals to me because of the diversity and challenges it presents. The unique job and lifestyle opportunities offered by the ADF can’t be matched anywhere else,” Timothy said.
A General Service Officer is someone who is committed, shows initiative, works well in a team environment and has leadership potential. At the end of his training, Timothy will have been trained to lead and make decisions confidently.
The appointment ceremony marks the moment Timothy officially becomes a member of ADF.
ADFA enables Officer Cadets and Midshipmen to develop the necessary skills to be successful junior leaders of the ADF. These future leaders embody the best values of the Services: Courage, Respect, Integrity, Service and Professionalism.
