Business and COVID-19 Update - June 9

Dear Businesses,

Council has welcomed the easing of restrictions to now allow more businesses to open and welcome visitors to Noosa. We are now working to support businesses to open in line with the new Health Directives and in a COVID Safe manner. We're committed to working together to protect our community
  • Helping you make sure your business is COVID Safe – Not sure how to re-open safely and in line with the Health Directives? With stage 2 COVID-19 restrictions easing, it is important that all business owners understand their obligations to ensure their premises are safe for staff and customers. What you need to do depends on which industry you operate in and how many patrons you can safely accommodate in your workplace. Council has collated Industry Information for Café/Restaurants; Beauty Therapy/Nail Salons, Retail; Accommodation & Tourism Businesses, which outline key points for operating within the restrictions, including posters that can be displayed at your workplace. These are available at Council's Business and COVID webpage.

Council's Environmental Health Officers and State Government COVID Safe Ambassadors are also visiting businesses across our precincts providing guidance on how to make sure your business is COVID Safe.

If you're not sure what your obligations are, specific advice can be sought from the Business and COVID Hotline on 134 COVID (134 268 43) or on the COVID-19 Website.
  • Small Business Commissioner office now open and can assist with commercial tenancies disputes — Maree Adshead has been announced as the Queensland Small Business Commissioner, to help small business recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Small business tenants and landlords whose trade has been affected by COVID-19 can seek assistance with resolving lease disputes and access a mediation service offered by the Commissioner. The Office of the Queensland Small Business Commissioner can be contacted on 1300 312 344 or visit
  • Have you completed our Business Resilience Survey? Council's Business Resilience Survey is open until June 14. We want to hear from as many businesses as possible so we know how to support your recovery from COVID-19 closures.
  • Need some guidance as you navigate the post COVID business environment?  Take advantage of Council's Subsidised Business Support Service and call one of our Specialists for a one on one consultation. Topics include Marketing, Strategy, Business Continuity, HR and Innovation.
  • Free Small Business Financial Counselling Service is available to assist small business operators – Call 1300 732 777
  • Covid-19 Testing is available at all GP's across Noosa and QML Pathology in Noosaville. The samples are sent to Sullivan Pathology Tewantin Centre for processing. More testing and early detection helps keep our community safe.
  • Get ready for future grant opportunities – The QLD Government Small Business Adaption Grants was oversubscribed within 5 days of opening. We encourage all businesses to be prepared for other assistance grants that may be announced over the recovery period. This information includes: ABN, evidence of how your business revenue has been impacted (e.g. BAS, CPA letter), last audited financials, and quotes/invoices for associated project. Make sure you hear about all grant opportunities by registering  for Grant alerts at Grant Guru.
  • QLD Government has launched the Small Business Skills Hub - Free online training and learning opportunities for eligible small business owners.
  • Small businesses in the building and construction industry are being offered targeted subsidised online training to upskill and strengthen their business prospects. Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) is partnering with specialist training agencies to boost the professionalism, knowledge and business management skills of sole traders and small businesses across Queensland. Learn more
