The Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network will proudly partner with the Sunshine Coast Lightning with a brand new event format to celebrate International Women’s Day 2020 at the Sunshine Coast stadium on Tuesday 10th March with Lightning player Peace Proscovia, head coach Kylee Byrne and CEO Danielle Smith as guest speakers.
The Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network (SCBWN) has thrown out the rulebook to organise an unique International Women’s Day celebration that is a complete departure from their usual Tuesday morning breakfast.
“For our 2020 International Women’s Day celebration we will be taking over USC Stadium and collaborating with the highly successful Sunshine Coast Lightning to deliver a morning that will show you that achieving your dreams is within your control,” shared SCBWN President Roz White.
“You will hear the remarkable story of leading Sunshine Coast Lightning goal shooter, Peace Proscovia, while enjoying a light breakfast in VIP seating at USC Stadium.”
International Women’s Day is a global celebration of cultural, social, economic and political achievements of women, while also marking a call to action for stepping up
In previous years the SCBWN has brought Rebecca Gibney and Samuel Johnson to the Coast to celebrate one of the biggest days on the network’s calendar.
This year’s worldwide campaign theme is #EachforEqual, supporting the notion that an equal world is an enabled world and gender, race and age equality is crucial for communities and economies to thrive.
“Peace’s story of determination and resilience growing up in Uganda is a prime example of how background and culture does not need to determine one’s chance of a successful future. Her story encompasses this amazing global celebration of International Women’s Day and reminds us why being #EachforEqual is so important to us all,” explained SCBWN Event Chair Min Swan.
Following Peace’s story, the SCBWN will host a discussion with Sunshine Coast Lightning’s CEO Danielle Smith and Head Coach Kylee Byrne who will give insight into the business side of netball.
Event guests are then invited to stay and watch the Sunshine Coast Lightning train at the stadium from 9:00am.
Tickets can be purchased via www.scbwn.org.au
