Caloundra Street Fair Reopening - #SUPPORTLOCAL

THE Sunshine Coast’s favourite street market is reopening to welcome both locals and visitors this Sunday.

Showcasing eclectic and original wares from across the region, the Caloundra Street Fair supports Sunshine Coast makers, creators, entertainers and specialist stallholders.

Receiving multiple TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence including for 2019, the return of the Street Fair aims to support local businesses and traders as they emerge to begin trading post COV-19.

“Our Street Fair supports and welcomes traders and makers from across our Sunshine Coast region,” Caloundra Chamber of Commerce CEO Olivia Sainsbury said.

“We are both delighted and relieved to be able to support the beginning of a return of trading to our Fair community and also showcase the retailers along our Bulcock Street precinct.

“As a community it’s important for us all to support local traders and small business owners – the Sunshine Coast economy and community is dependent on it. The Sunshine Coast has one of the highest rates of self-employment in Australia – with one in five of our workforce owning their own business, compared with the national average of 15 per cent.”

Importantly, the return to trade will operate within the trading parameters of the current COVID-19 environment – and community safety is paramount.

All traders and shoppers are urged to download the COVIDSafe app and to ensure it is active with Bluetooth on when visiting the markets.

“The COVIDSafe app speeds up the process of contacting people exposed to coronavirus (COVID-19),” Olivia said.

“This helps us support and protect you, your friends and family.”

The Street Fair – running from 8am to 1pm on Sunday 24 May – will feature a new layout enabling free flowing movement in line with social distancing requirements.

Stalls will be positioned further apart and in small pods of four.

Other safety measures include:
• Toilets with hand washing facilities and bays with hand sanitiser will be incorporated into the market;
• Signage to remind people of the requirements for visiting the market;
• Staff on hand to manage crowds;
• Awareness of stallholders and retailers of social distancing requirements; and
• EFTPOS availability at stalls

The Caloundra Street Fair offers handcrafted locally made products and art and live entertainment.

Visitors are treated to fresh local food and flowers, fresh juices, tasty breakfasts, coffee, lunch and delicious sweet treats.

Owned and operated by the Caloundra Chamber of Commerce, the Street Fair offers a vibrant and colourful atmosphere. Hand-selected stallholders ensure visitors are offered a wide variety of products, health and well-being services.

The Street Fair also showcases a range of local performers each week ranging from well-known established entertainers to emerging artists across a range of music genres.

Set in beautiful Bulcock Street in downtown Caloundra, the Street Fair is surrounded by cafes, boutiques and specialty shops and only two blocks from stunning Bulcock Beach.
