Happy Festival Goers

Everywhere you turned at Cooroy Fusion Festival last Saturday there was fun to be had.

Live music, street performers, fantastic food, kids’ activities, talented artists, literary events, market stalls, wildlife shows and perfect sunny weather!

The festival began nine years ago and started with the celebration of the Cooroy Library opening. It features the open houses of the Cooroora Woodworkers Club, Cooroy Camphor Laurel and the annual show of the Noosa District Orchid & Foliage Society plus a new addition this year with the Lifeline Denim Sale. Combine this with all that is great about the Hinterland and you have the ingredients for a highly successful day.

“It was a wonderful day and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from everyone.  We couldn’t have done it without our amazing crew of volunteers and our generous partners and sponsors. Seeing our community connected in such a great way was such a great feeling for all of us,” said Jim Ennis, chair of the Cooroy Fusion committee.

“Cooroy Fusion is one of those special events that just bubbles with community spirit. It showcases what a wonderful part of the world we live in. Our celebration included a huge range of activities at the Cooroy Mill Site, Cooroy Camphor Laurel Group, Cooroora Woodworkers, Cooroy Library and the Butter Factory Arts Centre.”

The Bendigo Bank Entertainment Tent was packed full of top shelf entertainment and the Pickled Possum bar was a great spot to catch the likes of The Inadequates, The Barry Charles Band, Annie J and Fusion and the Geckoes Wildlife Experience to name a few.

The Supa IGA Cooroy “Tastes of the Hinterland” was a big hit with attendees delighting in samples from local producers.  Other attractions included a photo booth with photos that were then be used to make Mother’s Day cards, pottery activities and Larrikin Puppet shows.

“Cooroy Fusion Festival is a showcase of all that is wonderful about Cooroy and the Noosa hinterland,” Simone Flavelle from the Cooroy Community Bank branch of Bendigo Bank said.

“We’re proud to partner with such a wonderful community event again this year. It brings smiles to so many faces. The many entertainers got toes tapping and provided a great background to so many activities that took place throughout the festival site,” she added.

Cooroy Fusion Festival continues to be a fantastic event for the kids, families and most of all, our community.
