Sunshine Coast detectives have charged a 30-year-old man with multiple offences following the unlawful use of a motor vehicle on the Sunshine Coast yesterday afternoon (January 19).

At about 1.30pm an off-duty police officer saw a stolen silver Holden Commodore driving along Nambour Connection Road towards Yandina and notified police.

Police followed the car onto the Bruce Highway which continued onto a dirt track between the highway and Nambour Connection Road at Kulangoor.

Upon arrival the driver of the sedan reversed into the passenger side of a marked police dog squad car three times. No officers were injured during the incident.

The car then drove forward and became stuck in mud. The driver tried to reverse numerous times without success and refused to get out of the car.

Police approached the car and the man was taken into custody without further incident.

He has been charged with five counts of stealing, four counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle, two counts of driving a motor vehicle without a driver licence, receiving tainted property and obstruct police officers, one count each of dangerous operation of vehicle, wilful damage and enter premises and commit indictable offence.

He is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
