An alleged drug driver has been charged after the stolen vehicle he was travelling was tracked by police through the Sunshine Coast overnight.

It will be alleged a Toyota Camry stolen from Chermside on September 29 was observed by PolAir 2 heading along Old Gympie Road at Narangba around 9.40pm.

The car was tracked as it continued to allegedly travel dangerously at high speed along the Bruce Highway through Beerwah.

At 10.30pm a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed on Steve Irwin Way in Landsborough. The car continued to travel on its rims causing a number of other motorists to take evasive action before eventually stopping a short distance away, crashing into a sign.

The male driver allegedly fled the scene and was tracked by PolAir and Dog Squad to Mooloolah Cemetery where he was taken into custody with a controlled bite by the pursuing Police Dog.

The 29-year-old Petrie man was treated at the scene for a minor wound then conveyed to Maroochydore Watchhouse.

He has since been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, fail to comply with requirement to stop vehicle, driving UIL, driving unlicensed and failure to supply a specimen for analysis.

He is due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court tomorrow (October 7).
