Deb backs Stuart Coward for Caloundra

LNP Leader Deb Frecklington has welcomed the endorsement of Stuart Coward as the LNP Candidate for Caloundra last night.

Ms Frecklington said Stuart has what it takes to be an exceptional local member.

“Stuart has the experience, work ethic and connections to continue the great work of the retiring Mark McArdle,” Ms Frecklington said.

“I welcome Stuart to the team and look forward to hitting the hustings with him in Caloundra and highlight the LNP’s plan to create jobs, cut surgery wait times and bust congestion by upgrading the Bruce Highway.

“The Palaszczuk Labor Government is holding Queensland back.

“I want to get things done and Stuart shares my vision for Queensland.

“Mark McArdle has made an extraordinary contribution to Caloundra since being elected in 2004 and I want to thank him again for his dedication and service.”

Mr McArdle said Stuart is an outstanding candidate.

“Caloundra is in safe hands with Stuart Coward,” Mr McArdle said.

“I look forward to working with him in the lead up to this crucial election in October 2020 and I urge everyone in the Caloundra electorate to get behind him.

“Stuart is a highly experienced Sunshine Coast business professional and has enjoyed a successful career of helping some of the most vulnerable people in our community.”

The married father-of-three has extensive experience across several industries and is currently an Executive Officer at Steps Group Australia, a national not-for-profit organisation that supports people with disabilities, based in Caloundra.

Mr Coward graduated from Caloundra State High School as a leader and has been an active local member of the LNP for more than 16 years.

His community leadership credentials also include roles at Queensland Health, Community Services Industry Skills Council, National Disability Services, Caloundra Chamber of Commerce, Commerce Industry Queensland and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Mr Coward has completed a range of courses, training and qualifications including a Diploma of Management, Business Governance, Business Management and Workplace Training.

Mr Coward said it’s an absolute privilege to be endorsed as the candidate for Caloundra heading into the 2020 Queensland poll.

“I’ve spent most of my life in Caloundra and I’m very passionate about the region,” Mr Coward said.

“I have big shoes to fill but I’m committed to working hard to ensure Caloundra stays in LNP hands.

“Only Deb Frecklington and the LNP has a plan to create new jobs, cut hospital wait times, bust congestion by fixing roads including the Bruce Highway and invest in water security infrastructure projects.

“We can’t afford another four years of the Palaszczuk Labor Government.”

LNP President David Hutchinson said Stuart Coward is another high-quality candidate for the LNP.

“Deb Frecklington and her united team has a plan to get Queensland working again,” Mr Hutchinson said.

“Stuart shares the LNP’s passion for jobs, better health and improved roads.

“The LNP will have more candidate announcements shortly, as we aim to end Annastacia Palaszczuk’s reign as the weakest Premier in Queensland’s history.”
