Noosa Arts Theatre is holding One Act Play Festival in July and we need experienced directors to bring to life the top three plays from the National One Act Playwriting Competition. 

Our professional adjudicators have made their decisions after long deliberation and our finalists, in no particular order are:

'An Autumn Romance'............by Cerise  deGelder from Vic. 

Cast required: 2 F - about 50, 1 F - mid twenties, 1 M -  late 20's

Synopsis:
Ellie has a comfortable life. She is single and independent, shares her home with two cats and has a steady income as a writer on a successful Aussie Soap. Then, one night a handsome TV actor makes her an offer she really should refuse and things take a sinister turn in TV town.  Tune in next week and all will be revealed... or will it?

'Premeditated Misadventure'.........by Richard Harris from NZ

Cast required: F 1 - late 20's, 1 - 30's plus, 1 - 50 plus,  M - 1 -50's, ! - 30's, plus 2 roles which could be either.

Synopsis:
Freya, adopted, discovers that her biological mother may have been murdered by her step-father, who then abandoned her.  He is now living locally - with his sixth wife!   He profited from  the demise of all his previous wives who each dies by misadventure.  Suspicious, Freya decides to investigate.

'Old Maids'...........by Ruth Tuxworth from Qld

Cast required: Females - 1 elderly, 1 mid twenties, 1 50's, 1 - 20-30,  
Males: 1 - 50's, 1 - 30's

Synopsis:
There are two old maids in this tale, Bridie who falls into an unexpected, socially unacceptable love and her own'Old Maid' who tells the truth of it. Issues of family tension, abandonment, forbidden love, hypocrisy and natural justice all bubble beneath the brittle surface as the family prepares for a wedding.
