Come along to Sunshine Coast Council and Libraries’ screening of the movie “Mabo” in Jack Morgan Park, Coolum this Saturday, June 1.

This landmark event celebrates Mabo Day and National Reconciliation Week (May 27 – June 3), and will incorporate this year’s theme: “Grounded in Truth: Walk Together with Courage.”

Mabo is an inspirational story of love, passion and justice starring Jimi Bani and Deborah Mailman.

The afternoon begins at 3.45pm with First Nations activities including a Kabi Kabi Welcome to Country, Gubbi Gubbi Dance and Torres Strait Islander dance troupe, Meriam Giz.

The movie screening will follow at 5pm, as the sun sets.

Don’t forget to BYO blanket or chairs and arrive early to grab some free popcorn.

Registration is not required. No alcohol is permitted at this free family-friendly event.

In the event of wet weather, this event may be moved to Coolum Civic Centre next to the park. Please check Sunshine Coast Libraries’ Facebook page for the most up-to-date info.
