Ex-service organisations to receive funding boost

Published:

More than $4.2 million in funding is available to help ex-service organisations deliver essential advice and advocacy for veterans, war widows, serving defence force members, and their loved ones.

Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O'Brien today announced Wide Bay veterans organisations can apply for a share in the funding through this year's Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST) grants program.

"Ex-service organisations play a vital role in supporting our veterans and their families, and this funding means they can have the right tools, equipment, and resources to carry out this important work," Mr O'Brien said.

"Veteran support services can use this funding for salaries for trained pension advocates and administrative assistants, and essential equipment and administration expenses including computer equipment and internet access for pension and welfare work.

"I encourage Wide Bay veteran organisations to put in an application for funding to support those who have served our country."

Applications for the BEST grants program will close on 17 February 2020. For more information about the grants program or if you would like to submit your application, visit the Community Grants Hub on www.communitygrants.gov.au.

If you've been impacted by the bushfires and need help with your application please contact the Community Grants Hub as soon as you can on 1800 020 283 (option 1) or support@communitygrants.gov.au so they can help.
