Excitement swells for Sunshine Coast Surf Film Festival

Get set for four days of surf-filled celebrations during the Sunshine Coast Surf Film Festival, starting on Thursday, May 17.

Now in its second year, the event celebrates surf film and surf culture and is generating an enormous buzz throughout the region.

Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said the festival was a great addition to the list of events hosted on the Sunshine Coast.

“This is a wonderful event for Caloundra and I’m sure it will be well attended as we’ve got many surf enthusiasts in the area,” Cr Dwyer said.

“Festival goers can enjoy watching the power and beauty of the ocean on the big screen.”

Festival director Murray Power said the goal was to open the festival up to competition in 2019.

“The aim is to attract the eyes of directors from the Australian surfing film circuit,” Mr Power said.

“The festival focusses on all aspects of surfing culture and we’re really excited to see it finally come to fruition.”

The event is supported by Sunshine Coast Council Tourism and Major Events levy.
