The Sunshine Coast Film Industry Network [FIN] is kicking off an intensive year promoting the film industry on the Sunshine Coast. The first meeting for '08 is on Wednesday, 13 February starting at 6.00pm at The J, Noosa Junction.
FIN was established last year to bring together film-makers, crew, actors technicians and others to encourage and support the development of film industry on the Coast.
Organiser, Kayte New, said that the Sunshine Coast is a haven for budding and accomplished professionals alike.
"There are many talented individuals with great projects and vision on the Coast.  If your one of them, we'd love to hear from you.
"We set up the Film Industry Network - to assist local projects to get off the ground. I believe together we can establish a viable Film and Television industry on the Sunshine Coast.
"FIN meet quarterly and provide a friendly, social occasion with information about the latest developments in the film industry. It's also a great opportunity to network!" The focus for next Wednesday night (13th Feb) is "Making a short, Getting it seen".
Local director, Tam Sainsbury will show her short, Finders Keepers., A drama produced for the LA film festival on the coast and starring local actors: Frank Wilkie, Susannah Lee, Stephen Moore and Candice Davie.  Tam will share her experience and also show the trailer for her upcoming feature, Myrtletown, to be produced in 2008.
Gympie "Heart of Gold" Festival Director, Toni Powell, will speak about 'Without a Box' and how local film-makers can go about having their film distributed to film festivals worldwide.
Kayte will host a forum on the pros and cons of making film on the coast.  Film industry professionals are invited to come and share their own experiences. We're looking forward to a positive discussion on making the coast a more productive contributor to the Australian film and TV industry.
Participants can register on the FIN website.  If you would like to be part of FIN, register on the website by Sunday 10th Feb.
