Sunshine Coast police are reminding members of the public to be extremely careful when handling firearms.
Anyone looking at surrendering weapons, for whatever reason, are reminded to treat any firearm as being potentially loaded and to ensure all care is taken with them.
People are requested to telephone their local police station first to seek advice as to the best option in relinquishing a weapon.
If you do attend a police station, or weapons dealer, you are advised to leave the firearm in your locked vehicle and notify a member of staff prior to removing it from the vehicle.
Further information can be obtained by accessing the Queensland Weapons Act 1990 or Queensland Weapons Regulation 2016 here.
