Summer holidays are just around the corner and the Sunshine Coast Libraries summer holiday program is ready to provide fun and creative activities for kids of all ages.

This year’s program is designed to get kids curious about all creatures great or small.

They’ll have the chance to build their own cardboard headset and explore the world through virtual reality, or meet curious creatures in real life with Snake Boss and Geckoes Wildlife sessions.

The stop go animation sessions will unleash the inner film maker or, if you like science, come along and recreate a toy at one of the Frankentoy sessions.

Turn an Ozobot into an intrepid explorer and navigate your way through a maze to discover all the creatures or take part in the scavenger hunt and find the creatures inside your local library.

Community Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said there was something for kids of all ages at council’s libraries these summer holidays.

“Our libraries have created another exciting holiday program which will definitely interest kids across the Sunshine Coast,” Cr McKay said.

“They can get creative making and decorating their very own fantastic beast shadow puppet or visit one of the library drop in session to build a Curious Creature.

“We encourage families to take advantage of these free and fun-filled activities to entertain the children throughout the holidays.

“These programs are sure to be popular so book early to avoid disappointment.

“But if you don’t want to be locked into a schedule, just turn up and hang out every Monday and you’ll be entertained with a huge range of activity sheets or find a good book to read.”

The Toy Library is also available each morning and afternoon – members can borrow two toys at a time – or join the Summer Reading Club challenge to go in the draw to win great prizes.

Bookings for the January program can be made via the libraries website from Friday, December 28 at 6pm.
