It will be lights, camera and action for Nambour when the national movie premiere of BOAR! comes to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland town on Saturday.

With support from Sunshine Coast Council, Nambour will play host to the movie's launch where locals can experience all the fanfare of a Hollywood-style red carpet premiere.

Division 10 Councillor Greg Rogerson said he was thrilled that director Chris Sun had chosen home turf to premiere his last epic motion picture which was shot predominantly in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Nambour's lively, quirky and innovative creative scene," Cr Rogerson said.

"After it was proposed that Nambour could host the premiere, we pulled out all the stops to ensure that the town comes alive for what will be an exciting one-off event.

"Our support is all part of energising C-Square and the Town Square as entertainment hubs in accordance with the Nambour Activation Plan.

"I'm especially looking forward to the red carpet arrival of the film stars and getting up close and personal with the film's main star BOAR – which thankfully is a replica."

Sunshine Coast locals are invited to come down to watch the stars walk the red carpet from 5pm and take a selfie with an eight-foot replica BOAR.

C-Square will also host a bar, live music and food truck as part of the night's entertainment.

Currie Street between Howard and Low Streets will be closed from 4pm

About the film

BOAR features an all-star cast, including John Jarratt, Melissa Tkautz, Hugh Sheridan, Nathan Jones, Ernie Dingo, Simone Buchanan, Roger Ward, Steve Bisely, Ricci Guarnaccio, Emily Williams and Bill Mosely!

Add to the list local Sunshine Coast actor Griffen Walsh and Gold Coast actress Christie Lee Britten this is a cast with true star power!

Set in outback Australia, BOAR showcases the harsh and beautiful Australian landscape. Lurking within this picturesque setting is a dark and terrifying threat - a beast of staggering size with an uncontrollable desire for blood and destruction.

Driven by its insatiable appetite for carnage, it defends its territory with brutal force and savagely takes on any who get in its way.
