Bike Week is a goer again this year and it’s time to get our kit on.

Transport Portfolio Councillor Rick Baberowski said Bike Week was a celebration of all things cycling and council wanted to help make sure this one was bigger and better than ever.

“As the proud host of Sunshine Coast Bike Week, council is calling for expressions of interest from local cycling-related businesses and groups of all kinds to join us during the nine-day event, Cr Baberowski said.

“It’s goal is to inspire people of all ages and abilities to get onto a bike by offering a range of helpful workshops and activities.”

Sunshine Coast Bike Week will run from October 13-21 to promote cycling and generate awareness about local cycling groups and businesses, the importance of bike rider safety, road rules relating to cyclists and motorists and sharing the road responsibly to reduce injuries and fatalities.

All Sunshine Coast-based bicycle retailers and cycling-related organisations have the opportunity to run their own cycling activity.

If you’re a part of the Sunshine Coast cycling fraternity and keen to share your love of cycling with the community, but not sure where you might fit in, contact council’s TravelSmart team to discuss the opportunities.

If your organisation is interested in running an activity during Bike Week 2018, please complete the Expression of Interest form by 5pm Friday August 17, 2018.
