Giving back to Maryborough volunteers

Maryborough Neighbourhood Centre volunteers will brew up new opportunities with Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O'Brien delivering a $4,300 grant for café equipment today.

"Neighbourhood Centre volunteers have provided ongoing support for Maryborough and the surrounding communities, and I am pleased the Morrison Government is giving back to them with this grant for café equipment which will allow them to expand their own skill sets and boost future employment opportunities," Mr O'Brien said.

"I also acknowledge the hard-working volunteers at the Maryborough Mural Project, who have shown remarkable vision and foresight by creating incredible landmarks that beautify Maryborough, and will attract tourists for many years to come.

"I am delighted to be able to support their important work with a $4,310 grant to provide new computer equipment, training and fuel reimbursements costs."

The funding was provided through the $9 million national Volunteers Grants Program, which offered grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 to enable organisations to better support their volunteers to purchase small equipment, pay fuel, transport and training costs.

"Maryborough simply would not be the same beautiful place without the energy, expertise and time its volunteers generously give, supporting the community through difficult times like the drought and floods, and helping to create a brighter future," Mr O'Brien said.

"I thank all volunteers everywhere for the work they do and congratulate these organisations for the difference they continue to make to Maryborough."
