Governor Visits Palmwoods State School

It was a very proud day for Palmwoods State School when His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland, Mrs de Jersey, Mayor Mark Jamieson and Councillor Jenny Mackay visited Palmwoods State School on Wednesday October 9.

The Governor spoke to the students on assembly about the great opportunities they have attending Palmwoods State School including our schools’ commitment to STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) partly through our Makerspace in the library, as well as the benefits of our Arts Program.  The official party also watched a performance from the Palmwoods Excellence Program Senior Dance group.

They then visited a very interactive and enjoyable Year 2 Japanese class before finishing with some entertaining plays our Year 1 students had created during their unit last term, as well as interacting with the students in that class.

All students were particularly well behaved and made a very positive impression on the Governor and all of the official party.  See below for a tweet from the Governor.
