Sunshine Coast's Julia Scudthorpe sets sights on The Lodge

With the federal election now set for May, there's a brand new political party, with a brand new leader, both born right here on the Sunshine Coast. It's the GOP, Grannies Only Party, led by former suburban newspaper journalist, Julia Scudthorpe and backed by The Indee Comedy Theatre.

This emerging grey-power group already has branches right throughout Australia and candidates cracking their necks to be chosen to stand.

The grannies' GOP policies leave the other political parties in awe, much higher pensions, free pairs of compression stockings, free Viagara, half-price Vanuatu bingo cruises, croquet sports arenas, the list is lengthy.

There'll be six voting days instead of one, Saturday May 25th, Sunday 26th,

Saturday 1st June, Sunday 2nd, plus Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th, with all votes to be cast at the Yandina School of Arts. There'll be complimentary tea and coffee, with snacks and wines on sale – an election like no other.

There'll be no standing in queues, you can vote seated at tables. Donations to the Grannies Only Party (GOP) will be fixed at $28, concessions at $25 and party members $20. To make sure your vote is registered call now 5472 8200.
