Brent Mickelberg MP is looking to invest in Local Heroes who just need a little help and encouragement to achieve their goals.
“I am pleased to announce that the first round of my Local Hero Grants are now open.
“Since becoming the Member for Buderim I have been approached by a number of hard working people who are well on their way to greatness, who just need a leg up to get to where they want to go.
“Sometimes a few hundred dollars will go a long way, and at last I have a transparent, all-be-it competitive process, in which to apply for such a grant,” Mr Mickelberg said.
In each of the three annual rounds, the Local Hero Grants program will provide small donations of $250 to four Buderim Electorate individuals and/or not-for-profit community groups.
“Even though there are a range of generous grant programs offered by all three levels of government, there are always worthy applicants that don’t meet the criteria and fall through the cracks. I am pleased to allocate some of my discretionary funding to give Grants to Greats.
“If you belong to a not-for-profit group or are an individual that perhaps needs help with funds for sporting or artistic pursuits, all you need to do is submit one application per round. If this application is successful, only one application is permitted within the twelve month timeframe.
“Applications for Round 1 close Friday 19th October. Each application will be judged on merit and without bias for a particular pursuit or talent. Everyone deserves a chance to be a Local Hero,” Mr Mickelberg said.
