History repeats with another dud Labor Budget

It’s a case of history repeating with another budget of increased taxes, ballooning debt, and a failure to deliver critical infrastructure by the Palaszczuk Labor government.

Member for Kawana, Jarrod Bleijie, has slammed the Palaszczuk Labor government for failing to deliver any funding for new critical road infrastructure projects. Mr Bleijie said yet again Labor’s disregard for the Sunshine Coast is clear for all to see.

“This is a disaster budget for the Sunshine Coast. It’s now the Palaszczuk government’s fifth successive budget and still we have not received funding for investment in infrastructure and roads, which is bad news for jobs, opportunity and congestion on the Coast,” he said.

Mr Bleijie said he was alarmed but not surprised that Annastacia Palaszczuk has not committed to fund critical projects on the Sunshine Coast.

“There is not one dollar of funding to start the Mooloolah River Interchange despite the critical nature of this project to support delivery of the hospital and ease congestion on Nicklin Way,” he said.

“There is no commitment to fund 50% of the vital North Coast Rail duplication despite the Morrison government kicking in 50%, and it’s the same situation with the six-laning of the Bruce Highway between Caboolture and Caloundra – where’s the money Annastacia?

“Not one dollar to fast-track stage 3 of the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, meaning more patients will not be seen within clinically recommended times.

“No money to upgrade Caloundra Road and no money for a convention centre.

“This is certainly a Labor Budget, higher taxes, record debt and absolutely nothing for the Sunshine Coast.”
