Almost ready for the 2018 North Shore Community Christmas Celebration on November 24

The Christmas spirit is alive and well on the North Shore.

Locals are excited for the North Shore Community Centre's annual Christmas celebration to be held on Saturday, November 24 from 10.00am - 2.00pm and thousands are expected to come along and celebrate.

Centre co-ordinator, Shannon Embery is the creator of the celebration and said the event is a labour of love that gains in popularity each year.

"The centre will be a buzz with excitement and were thrilled so many from our North Shore community will take time out to start their Festive Season with us," Shannon said.

"Engaging with our community in celebrating the joy of Christmas in a safe, fun and friendly environment is what this event is all about. Our motto is Be involved, be inspired, and be connected and to reduce social isolation in our community. By bringing our community together for our annual celebration we aim to strengthen existing networks or create new networks between everyone in our North Shore community," Shannon added.

The event will be topped off with the arrival of Santa Claus by helicopter, thanks to a ride from Becker Helicopters. Local band, "Tobias The Band" will be performing and there will be a host of free activities for the kids including laser tag, a jumping castle, petting zoo, face painting, wildlife show, puppet show and DIY arts and crafts. If the kids have been good enough, Santa may even leave each of them a lolly bag.

Community & Gift stalls will once again line the centre adding to the market style atmosphere and the Maroochy North Shore Lions in conjunction with Mudjimba Surf Life Saving Club will fundraise with a sausage sizzle and burger sale. Members of the community are also asked to bring along a gift and place it under a Christmas tree for IFYS to forward onto families in need this Christmas. If others are keen in supporting this initiative who can't attend the Christmas celebration, they can still get involved by donating a wrapped gift to a boy or girl until December 6 when IFYS will collect them for distribution.

Shannon also took time to thank the Marcoola Community Bank branch of Bendigo Bank as major sponsor of the Christmas celebration. Manager, Kerryn Vincart said it's an event everyone looks forward to.

"The North Shore Community Centre's annual Christmas Celebration has become synonymous with getting ready for Christmas in recent years. I'm delighted our branch is able to support the event again in 2018, and on behalf of all the sponsors, I hope as many as possible can come along and enjoy the Festive Season activities and fun on offer," Kerryn said.

Other local businesses digging deep to sponsor the event, include: Sunshine Coast Council, North Shore Realty, Maroochy North Shore Realty, Gone Bonkers Pacific Paradise, Sunshine Coast Printing & Distribution Services and Becker Helicopters.

More information is available on the centre's website: www.northshorecommunitycentre.org or the Facebook page www.facebook.com/NorthShoreCommunityCentre.
