While devastating, these disasters prove communities on the frontlines are resilient – and that they've been forgotten by the Morrison Government.
Last year, the Morrison Government failed to commit the necessary resources needed to help these communities recover from the Black Summer bushfires.2 Meanwhile, they spend $12bn in subsidies to fossil fuel corporations every single year.3
We know coal, oil, and gas mining corporations are the biggest contributors to climate change. They should be paying to clean up the mess, not pocketing billions of public money.
The solutions already exist to make our water cleaner, our air clearer, and our lives better. But with the damage already locked in thanks to fossil fuel executives, we know there are more climate disasters likely in our future.
That's why we need to take action now. We can't allow for these climate disasters to continue happening unabated, for families to be left with nothing but tents and caravans, only for fossil fuel executives to profit off their pain.
A national climate compensation fund would make the corporations responsible for climate damage foot the bill, giving communities on the front lines space to breathe.
Sign the petition demanding our government make those responsible pay the bill, with a national climate compensation fund!
