Join the #EndCovidForAll campaign

Published:

As the coronavirus crisis escalates, thousands of people across the globe are struggling to access healthcare and basic protective measures. In some parts of the world, disposable masks now cost more than 20 times what they used to.1

Healthcare workers are being forced to go about their life-saving work without protective equipment, and already 600 nurses worldwide have lost their lives to the virus.2

That's why a coalition of over 150 Australian civil society organisations is backing the #EndCovidForAll campaign, calling on our Government to increase its commitment to supporting Australia's neighbours.

Before the 2020-21 Federal Budget is handed down in October, we've got a chance to make sure it includes practical and financial support for countries fighting the pandemic.

Already, thousands of people have signed on to make sure the Federal Government can't ignore this push. Will you join them?

Over 14,000 people have already taken the pledge. Can you stand with them and call on the Federal Government to expand support for our neighbours in need in the next Federal Budget?

TAKE THE PLEDGE!

To sign the pledge, you'll need to enter your name and email address on the #EndCovidForAll campaign website. Once you've signed, the campaign will record your signature, but none of your personal information will be kept on file.

Since the start of the pandemic, Australia has:
  • Deployed health experts to a World Health Organization regional office and the Solomon Islands Ministry of Health;
  • Provided more than 2.6 million pieces of PPE to 23 countries and territories;
  • Pledged $300 million to improve vaccine access in the Indo-Pacific.
But we can and must do more. Funding to support our regional neighbours has steadily decreased each year since 2013 and is now at its lowest ever level — just 0.21% of our Gross National Income.3

Can you stand in solidarity with our international neighbours and urge our Government to do the same?

As we extend our solidarity and support to friends and family locked down in Melbourne, it's important that our solidarity knows no borders. Whether local, regional, or global, strong communities are now more important than ever.

In determination,
Patricia and Sarah, for the GetUp team

PS - As always, your personal data is safe with us. When you sign the #EndCovidForAll pledge, the campaign will retain your signature and nothing more. Your email address, full name, and any other personal details will not be made available or kept on file.
