Keep jobs in Wide Bay with JobKeeper

Published:

A new $130 billion JobKeeper wage subsidy program to help keep businesses open and employees in jobs has been launched by Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O'Brien is encouraging businesses in Wide Bay to register for the new JobKeeper payment that will benefit six million Australian workers.

"Like everyone, I want to see businesses in Wide Bay come through this very difficult time," Mr O'Brien said.

"I want businesses to be able to continue to do business and keep people in jobs and the Australian Government's JobKeeper payment will help do that.

"The JobKeeper initiative provides employers with a fortnightly payment of $1,500 per eligible employee for a maximum of six months.

"JobKeeper will be available for full-time, part-time and casuals who have been with the same employer for 12 months, as well as employees who have been stood down.

"This is a record-breaking investment to help give employees and their employers security and support the economy.

"It will also ensure that people will have jobs to go to once the COVID-19 threat passes.

"As this is a new ground-breaking program,  a special sitting of Parliament will be required to pass legislation to enable the payments."

Businesses can register interest now via the ATO website at: https://www.ato.gov.au/general/gen/JobKeeper-payment/
