Today's Recycling and Waste in Queensland 2018 Report shows the Palaszczuk Labor Government is losing the war on interstate waste dumping, LNP Shadow Environment Minister David Crisafulli said today.
"Whatever the excuse, under Labor interstate waste increased by 37 per cent in the last year.
"That's after almost half-a-decade in power.
"The State Government and the Labor-run Ipswich council have given the green light to super-dumps and then blamed the previous state government for New South Wales operators using them.
"In a desperate attempt to fix the dumping problem they've created, Labor will slug all Queenslanders with a mammoth $1.3 billion waste tax bill from Cairns to Currumbin.
"But less than 10 per cent of the $1.3 billion raised will be spent on environmental initiatives.
"This is just another greedy Labor tax grab. The only thing Labor ever recycles is excuses."
NB: The below graph shows the decrease in interstate dumping under the LNP.
