One of Australia’s most versatile performers, Melinda Schneider, heads an impressive line-up of talented artists and celebrities as Lendlease celebrates the start of its fourth annual Spring Retirement Festival this month.
Over five weeks, from 21 September to 20 October, 11 of Lendlease’s Queensland retirement villages will host a series of free creative performances and workshops with every event designed to give over 55s a chance to explore the villages and take part in all of the fun that retirement life can offer.
Mark Criddle, QLD Regional Manager, Lendlease Retirement Living said the Spring Retirement Festival is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate creative life and inspire those over 55 to try something new.
“Creativity can become more important as people get older as it plays a vital role in helping keep people fit, active and engaged in our communities.
“We are really looking forward to opening our doors to the community, welcoming all into our 11 villages and celebrating the start of a whole new creative chapter in life.”
The festival kicks off on Wednesday 21 September with TV’s ‘Better Homes and Gardens’ Graham Ross who’ll be sharing his passion for all things green – with a few funny stories along the way.
Fans of the late Johnny Cash won’t want to miss Barry Ferrier’s compelling musical, “I hear that train a-comin’: The Johnny Cash Story”. Packed with hits including Folsom Prison Blues and I Walk the Line, the show traces the legend’s life and his famous love for June Carter Cash.
Mix a swag of talented jazz musicians, a little gin and a sly twist of naughtiness and you have the perfect ingredients for a great party. The Gin & Sin Jazz Salon will be at Hibiscus Nambour on 20 October, hosted by the hugely entertaining Chris Osborne and Susan Bennett.
Is youth wasted on the young? Comedian Peter Berner and the unstoppable Denise Drysdale will be debating this age-old adage in a must-see evening of hilarity.
Anyone looking to update their wardrobe will love the Fashion Show and Styling Workshop in Mackay while keen cooks can master the secrets of divine Thai cooking at Sandringham Lodge in Buderim.
And for those with an urge to lift their voices, the glorious Babushka Cabaret offers a rare treat – an intimate performance of sparkling cabaret in luscious four-part harmony, followed by a singing workshop that will give your vocal chords a workout.
