Light on the Hill Dinner

The Ninderry Labor Branch conducted its annual Light on the Hill Speech and Dinner on Friday 22nd November at Coolum Beach Hotel. Giving the oration this year was special guest Wayne Swan, former Treasurer and Deputy Prime Minister and currently National President of the ALP.

Ninderry Labor President Bill Gissane was extremely pleased with the outcome.

"The event was fully booked and Wayne's speech was inspirational, authentic and completely hit the mark" he said.

"Wayne's views on how to improve conditions for all Australians resonated very strongly with the audience" he added.

Mr Swan referred to Ben Chifley's original concept of "The Light on the Hill" and how it informs political decision making today. He included numerous references to his time in influential positions both domestically and internationally.

Visitors attended from all over the Sunshine Coast and Hinterland and Wide Bay. Some of the attendees were new to the district and reported that they had a wonderful evening.

Ninderry Labor meets on the third Sunday of the month at Coolum Beach Hotel at 10:30am followed by lunch in the dining room.

Visitors are always welcome to participate in lively debate and discussion about current issues.
